One 256-QAM channel can carry up to 38 Mbps, so if multiple transport streams are multiplexed on the ASI input, we can distribute them across four different RF frequencies.

The ASI does have MPTS. We have five transport streams available on ASI output. I can configure up to 3 ASI outputs but cannot select specific TS to show on specific ports. All five on each ASI port.

We have found that if we keep the QAM channel at or below 34Mbps, the crappy tv’s on our network will work fine. As of now we pick four of the five TS on one QAM RF channel and mux the fifth TS onto another QAM RF Channel. Having the one Modulator output multiple QAM channels is a benefit as we can split the five across two QAM channels and assure we keep the QAM data rates well below our 34mb mark.
Lastly – It feels like the asi stream bit rate is too high for the drake MQM and MQL modulators we have. The buffer max’s out. I also have an old cisco qam modulator we use for testing and there is an overflow error which leads to a higher ASI rate than they can process.
