The Thor 4K HDMI Encoder RF Modulator Series is a professional broadcast solution designed to convert HDMI video sources into digital RF television channels and IP streams. The system integrates H.265 / H.264 encoding, multiplexing, and RF modulation in a 1RU chassis, enabling efficient distribution of Ultra HD and Full HD video over existing CATV coaxial networks or Ethernet IP infrastructure.
Available in 1-channel, 2-channel, and 4-channel HDMI input models. The 4k unit accepts HDMI inputs from devices such as satellite receivers, cameras, media players, Blu-ray players, and computers. The video is encoded and modulated into ATSC, DVB-C, DVB-T, or ISDB-T RF channels, allowing it to be distributed over standard coax TV networks.
In addition to RF output, the encoded programs can also be streamed over Ethernet as UDP, RTP, or RTSP multicast IP streams, enabling hybrid RF and IPTV distribution across modern network infrastructures.
Using advanced HEVC (H.265) compression, the system supports Ultra HD resolutions up to 3840 × 2160, delivering excellent picture quality while maintaining efficient bandwidth usage. Multiple programs can be multiplexed onto RF carriers, allowing several channels to be distributed across a single coaxial network.
The modulator provides high-quality RF performance with MER greater than 40 dB and a frequency range of 50–960 MHz, ensuring reliable broadcast distribution for professional installations.
For system flexibility, the unit supports optional ASI input and dual ASI outputs, along with SPTS or MPTS IP transport streams depending on the carrier configuration. The optimized encoding architecture ensures very low latency from encoding to decoding.
Configuration and monitoring are simple through the front-panel LCD display and web-based management interface. The device also features a modular drawer-type design, allowing quick replacement or upgrade of encoding modules when needed.
The Thor 4K Encoder Modulator Series is ideal for hotels, campuses, hospitals, cruise ships, digital signage networks, and CATV headend systems, providing a reliable and flexible solution for distributing HDMI video over RF coaxial networks or IP streaming infrastructure.
