Hello! I am wondering about the end to end latency that might be expected with your H-16HD-TV-TX/RX units, I don't see this info datasheet sheet
Those fiber products provide nearly a zero-latency factor
thanks, so no encoding/decoding lag for these units?
these are not encoders; they are directly converting to optical
we are entertaining a set of these units for an application where we do desire basically real-time monitoring of HD video signals.
thanks
should work great for that kind of application
thanks, and by extension, any latency would not be increased by utilizing more channels, correct?
is there a max value that you would be willing to provide based on any testing or analysis?
no difference in adding more channels
it's so minuscule that the testing apparatus we use doesn't even really go that low as we use for actual modulators or encoders; but ballpark maybe .001 seconds
that's excellent, exactly what I needed
thanks. the last question - is the H-16HD-TV-TX/RX product inclusive of both a transmitter and receiver or do you need to buy two units?
it's literally instantaneous or near the speed of light as the transmitter simply shoots the digital to optical conversion soon as it fires up.
awesome
they come as a set, Tx and Rx
thanks. this product seems almost too good to be true for what we've been after :)
appreciate your time today.
Considering that the 8 SDI CWDM units are used for space shuttle launches, and they are perfect for that application, I can't fathom a scenario where these wouldn't be good enough
not a problem.
excellent, thanks again, and will be in touch via our procurement folks.
Take care.
sorry, I thought of one other issue
do you ever have customers encrypt/decrypt the fiber stream between Tx and Rx units?
and if so, is there a preferred solution Thor would recommend for that purpose?
I'm not even sure that's a real thing? Encryption comes in the form of encoding a signal; fiber optic products don't do that, they are generally analog/digital to optical converters
our particular units, in practically every modality, are literally made to be as transparent as possible; so all data, audio, or ancillary data is to be converted to an optical wavelength and then sent on either 1310 or 1550nm optics unless otherwise specified for a custom-built unit
