Satellite Decoders, IRD’s STB ATSC receivers
The hardware decoders receive the encoded compressed video and audio streams and output uncompressed video and audio, such as HDMI or SDI or analog CVBS that can be directly connected to a TV or monitor. It is usually used on the receiving end. It usually works with the encoders; encoders convert uncompressed video and audio to the compressed formats like MPEG2, H.264, or H.265 streams for bandwidth conservation and output as IP streams or ASI streams, or modulated RF output. The decoders perform the opposite task. Thor offers a wide range of broadcast decoders, including IP input, ASI input, CATV RF input. Additionally, we combine decoding functionality with gateway functionality, such as converting multi-channel RF QAM, ASI, DVB-T, ISDB-T to IP or DVB-ASI.
The decoders can utilize the following signal conversion examples: ATSC to SDI/HDMI, 8VSB ATSC to IP, Satellite DVBS/S2 to SDI, HDMI, IP, ASI. Additionally, they can perform RF to RF modulation conversions, such as 8VSB (ATSC) to QAM, QAM to ATSC, DVBS/S2 to QAM or to 8VSB (ATSC)
