2 Relay Bi-Directional Contact closure over fiber in one direction

Description

Thor Contact Closure Fiber Optic Converters -  Transmitter and Receiver kits that  allow you to send electrical signals over fiber optic cable.

This works exactly like a relay - electrical on/off switch than can be controlled from the transmitter to the receiver or in both directions, for example if we will close or short 2 pins on the TX side it will close it on the receiving side which allows the current to flow, so you can turn off or turn on any device remotly over fiber.

The base unit works for 20Km over single-mode fiber or 3000 feet  of multimode fiber - ST/PC fiber connectors

They are typically used in applications with Access Control System, Alarm Event Triggering, Building Automation, and Environmental Control Systems, Fire & Alarm Systems, PIR signal Transmission, Traffic Signal Control Equipment, etc, and are available for stand-alone or rack-mount installations. ST/PC is standard; please call or ask your representative about SC or FC optical connectors, we can supply optical converion cables.

Plug and Play design ensures adjustment-free installation and operation, and optical adjustments are never required. LED indicators are provided to instantly monitor the system operating status.

Are these outputs isolated from each other (no shared common)? Are the relays mechanical or solid state? Does this price include two units for the bidirectional version?

Answer:

Our contact closure fiber devices have inputs and outputs that are
isolated as separate solid-state relays, which means that they do not
share a common ground or circuit.
This isolation is achieved through the use of solid-state relays,
which are electronic switches that use semiconductor components to
isolate the input and output circuits.
This isolation helps prevent interference and noise from affecting the
signals transmitted through the fiber devices.

 Yes, the price includes both ends and power supplies.

Question:

Could you tell me if you have a 2 Relay Bi-Directional Contact closure over fiber that is rated for 120vAC 15A? Also, I read on the specifications for the F-2CC-B—TxRx that it is possible to send a 5V TTL Pulse or Signal, could you give me some more information on how that works?

Answer:

Unfortunately, the CC unit will not support 20A load, it can handle only about 0.8A.

But, I would suggest 2 step solution, we can supply external ON/OFF Switch controlled by fiber optic contact closure

Question:

I am looking into contact closure media converters and I see you have the Contact Closure over Fiber 2,4,8,16 one way or bidirectional avaialble. What mechanism is used to convert the input signals to whatever is being sent over the fibre to the receiver? Why type of hardware is located inside the converter for the conversion process?

Answer:

We offer 2–16 contact closure over fiber devices. These units essentially work like remote ON/OFF switches (relays), but over fiber optic links.

Here’s how they function:
When you short (connect) two of the open contact terminals on the transmitter (TX) side, the corresponding relay on the receiver (RX) side will close. This allows you to send simple contact signals—such as triggering alarms, opening gates, or switching devices—over long distances using fiber optics, without any electrical interference.

If you need further explanation, feel free to ask. Also, if you can share a bit more about your application, we’d be happy to check if this solution is suitable for your needs.

Question:

How to test contact closure fiber-optic devices, and can this be done without fiber?

Answer:

In order to test these units, you must have a fiber connection between them. The TX sends a signal to the RX to open or close the relay.

A basic test can be done by shorting the corresponding pins—for example, pins 1–2—which should trigger the relay on the RX side. You can simply connect a power meter between those pins to verify the operation.
