ASI to IP | IP to ASI video gateway for Digital Video Broadcast systems
IP to ASI and ASI to IP technology from Thor Broadcast allows for the highest performance in the distribution of digital video streams, satisfying all needs in terms of MPEG transport stream distribution in Single Frequency Networks (SFN). With our IP to ASI and ASI to IP technologies, Thor Broadcast is able to help our customers transfer an MPEG transport stream through an IP network with maximum efficiency.
The H-1 ASI to IP system from Thor Broadcast is an ASI over IP video gateway for Digital Video Broadcast systems. DVB-ASI video transport links between two broadcasting locations can be both difficult and expensive to set up; but fortunately, ASI to IP gateways from Thor Broadcast provide a much more simple and more reliable method for MPEG 2 transport of ASI video through IP Ethernet networks. The H-1 ASI to IP acts as an ASI over IP encapsulator, in which the MPEG transport streams are carried through the packet based network, with wireless network equipment such as wireless bridges often being used as a means to increase flexibility. Our units are capable of bi-directional transport; including products, which are able to carry multiple SDVB ASI Transport Streams within the same IP Pipe. ASI to IP video gateways offer an ideal solution for your MPEG 2 transport over IP needs, so call us today at (800) 521-8467 ext 2 and our expert staff will be glad to help you with all issues relating to our IP to ASI and ASI to IP services. ASI to IP Management software also availible.

The short answer is yes, it can be set up to be used over the public
internet as a UDP unicast - Point to point
The unit can be set up to use over the public internet, but it would
need to be set up properly and networking knowledge would be required.
First, the ASI IP Data IP port address needs to be set to the same
Subnet as a LAN router.
For example, if the gateway is 192.168.1.1, the data port needs to be,
for example, 192.168.1.2 (let's say port 1234).
This port number needs to be open on the gateway.
Generated UDP IP stream needs to be set to the destination WAN IP address.
Now, the receiving side needs to open this specific port 1234 on the
receiving router and be forwarded to the receiving device.
