The H-SDI-IP is a video gateway for IP video systems. It is often difficult and expensive to set up SD-SDI video transport links between remote sites and central locations. Our IP gateway offers an inexpensive and reliable method for transporting SD-SDI video over existing Ethernet IP networks. The H-SDI-IP is an IP encapsulator, meaning that the SDI signal is carried over the packet-based IP network. SDI signals have a high bitrate, typically 270 Mbps for SD-SDI. Our H-SDI-IP unit transports the SDI signal uncompressed at the full bitrate. This will almost always require a network running at Gigabit Ethernet speeds. For applications where IP network bandwidth is more limited, we can compress the SD-SDI signal into an MPEG transport stream.
