Question and Answers

Answer:
For SDI we have two primary options: HD-SDI - mostly compact units and 3G-SDI CWDM which is rack mount. https://thorbroadcast.com/product/4-sdi-hdsdi-over-1-fiber-mini-extender.html These units use TDM for multiplexing and they have about a 20-40ms delay. https://thorbroadcast.com/products/sdi-sd-hd-3g-with-cwdm This is CWDM, and has 1ms delay. Both units are in stock and readily available for purchase. Let us know what custom setup you'd like to see and we can show you the cost breakdown. Let us know if you need anything else.
Answer:
I have since consulted with our engineering department, and they have confirmed that it is possible to change the Supermux modules.
To do this, you will need to open the top of the unit and unscrew the modules. Then, you can swap particular TX cards to the same slot as the corresponding RX on the other unit and reconnect the specific CWDM fiber to the SFP module.
For example, if the unit currently has 6 forward TX's + 1 return RX SDI, and in the future, you want to reconfigure it to 4 TXs / 3 RXs, you can swap the particular TX cards into the same slot as the corresponding RX on the other unit.
I hope this is clear.
Essentially, it is possible to change the modules, but it requires opening the devices and swapping the TX/RX PCB cards with their optical modules.

Answer:
Yes, we can provide separate units for future installation. However, please note that Ethernet can be tricky due to its bidirectional nature, utilizing two optical wavelengths. To install a second Ethernet port, you will need to remove two SDI ports, and we must match the CWDM wavelengths used by those SDIs.
Therefore, it might be more practical to order the unit with the exact configuration you need from the beginning.
