The ThoriumIP-4K is a professional single-channel 4K UHD HDMI encoder and integrated ATSC/QAM RF modulator, designed for high-quality video distribution over Ethernet and coaxial cable networks.
Connect a 4K HDMI source such as a media player, computer, broadcast receiver, or video playback system and convert it into an efficient H.265 or H.264 digital video stream.
The unit supports 4K UHD resolution up to 3840 × 2160 at 60 frames per second using H.265/HEVC encoding, delivering professional video quality while optimizing network bandwidth.
Unlike standard IPTV encoders, ThoriumIP-4K also includes an integrated ATSC/QAM RF modulator, allowing compatible video programming to be distributed through traditional RF television infrastructure.
This makes it an excellent solution for hotels, hospitals, sports venues, commercial buildings, educational facilities, and professional broadcast installations.
The ThoriumIP-4K offers two professional video distribution capabilities:
IPTV Streaming
Convert HDMI video into H.265 or H.264 IP streams and distribute them over Ethernet using UDP/RTP multicast or unicast transmission.
ATSC/QAM RF Modulation
Use the integrated RF modulator to distribute compatible television programming over coaxial cable networks using ATSC 1.0 or J.83B QAM standards.
Both distribution technologies are built into one compact, professional rack-mountable unit.
1. Connect Your 4K HDMI Source
Connect a 4K media player, computer, satellite receiver, or other HDMI video source to the encoder.
The HDMI loop output allows the incoming signal to be connected to an additional display or monitoring device.
2. Configure Your Video Encoding
Select H.265/HEVC or H.264/AVC encoding through the web management interface.
For maximum 4K resolution and frame rate, use H.265 encoding at up to 3840 × 2160p60.
3. Connect to Your Network
Connect the Gigabit Ethernet DATA port to your network switch.
The encoder distributes video over IP using UDP or RTP multicast or unicast streaming.
4. Connect Your RF Distribution Network
Connect the integrated RF output to a compatible ATSC or QAM television distribution system.
The RF modulator supports ATSC 1.0 and J.83B QAM64/QAM256 modulation.
5. Start Distributing Video
Deliver professional encoded video over your IP network or distribute compatible RF television programming through your coaxial infrastructure.
ThoriumIP-4K includes flexible audio encoding and passthrough capabilities for professional installations.
The system can detect whether the incoming HDMI audio is standard PCM or a supported Dolby Digital bitstream.
For PCM audio sources, the encoder offers selectable audio encoding options including AC-3 stereo, AAC, and MPEG-1 Layer II.
For supported Dolby Digital sources, AC-3 5.1 passthrough allows existing multichannel audio to be preserved.
This simplifies installations where different HDMI sources use different audio formats.
