ATSC model description
12 HD/SD-3G SDI input to ATSC (OFF AIR ) RF Output Modulation and IPTV output supporting Low latency up to 1080p/60. PN : H-12SDI-ATSC-IPLL

Description

CATV Digital Modulator with 12 SDI Input + ATSC/QAM RF INPUT, IPTV TS INPUT and CATV RF COAX Output + IPTV TS output +  ASI output - LOW LATENCY - UP to 1080p/60

12 SDI to CATV RF Modulator and IP Video Encoder - Thor Broadcast new high density HD encoder RF modulator has an all new platform for modulation for up to 12 SDI Inputs in SD/HD/3G-SDI sources while simultaneously being able to output IP Transport Streams from those sources. This multi-function device is a professional headend in a box with massive functionality which includes encoding, multiplexing, scrambling and modulation.

INPUTS

  • It supports up to 12 SDI with Closed Caption inputs
  • 1 RF TUNER - ATSC or QAM per request
  • 256 IP input through Data1 (GE) port.

OUTPUTS

  • 16 Channels RF out with 16 non-adjacent carries  + 16 MPTS  IPTV streams which mirror the 16 RF carriers

Combining several of these units means you can utlimately build a full headend in a fraction of the rack space. This unit is a 1RU powerhouse that has surpassed testing expectations due to utilization of the best video chipsets on the market which means perfect 1080p60 clarity in beautiful HD. By using only the highest quality components internally, Thor's quality in Television RF modulation has once again exceeded expectations in Hotels, Stadiums, Malls, Theatres, Hospitals, US Military, Universities, etc

SDI Multiplexer

The Thor Broadcast SDI modulators vary for maximum SDI inputs, but each modulator can also work as a video multiplexer.

Easily combine multiple programs on a single RF Frequency. Depending of the video bit-rate, you can put several TV programs on one frequency(6mhz step). On DVB-C 265QAM, each 6Mhz channel contains 38Mbps data. So, if the encoding bit rate is 9Mbps, we can fit 4 videos on one physical channel, for this means we can create 4 programs in one RF channel eg: 7.1, 7.2, 7.3, 7.4, also by using VCT -Virtual channel setting, we can assign any static channel a  more friendly number in which will be displayed on the TV's.

This flexibility of packing in more programs per RF QAM256 means you can utilize less channels in your RF spectrum, and by using VCT you can create whole number channels and put them anywhere you want in your channel CATV lineup.

Question and Answers

Answer:
Sounds like you have a few things going on here. Each SDI input on this unit can carry 2 channels of audio; so you're fine there. If you want to have zero-latency, then you need forgo encoders and go straight over fiber to monitors. using SDI over fiber converters like this one : https://thorbroadcast.com/product/1-sdi-hdsdi-over-fiber-mini-extender.html Encoders will always have latency, however, things like resolution and infrastructure are the biggest causes of latency. We use the best chipsets on the market in these units, there is nothing faster, I can have an engineer give you a call and explain in detail if you like. That being said you'd probably be looking at from anywhere from 250-350ms based on what you have above. If you have CCTV camera's that are SDI, then you would use our modulator to convert to RF. If you have IP cameras and want to convert to RF, you would need something different, we have converters for that as well https://thorbroadcast.com/product/iptv-to-16-32-clear-channel-rf-qam-atsc-modulator.html/122 I'm kind of curious why you implemented both SDI and IP camera's; I think this may cause some differences in real-time transmission of those signals because of the conversion thereafter.
