The F-4ASI is a copper to fiber media adapter for both DVB-ASI and SD-SDI signals. This is our standard asi over fiber transport unit for the broadband and broadcast industry. The F-4ASI units are used in various applications for extending ASI and SDI video signals over singlemode fiber. ASI or SDI fiber optic transport is based on the conversion of the transport streams digital band to an optical carrier signal which can be broadcast at distances of up to 120km (20km Standard). The unit can be single, duel, or have up to eight independent multiplexed channels.

The standard input for the ASI or SDI inputs is a BNC connector however other connectors may be used if specified. The signal channels can carry either a DVB-ASI signal or an SD-SDI signal. The signal is modulated onto a single fiber for transport. The signal is then demultiplexed at the receiver. The F-ASI unit provides up to 8 fully independent DVB-ASI/SDI pipes. We offer both compact and rackmount units. The optical connections are ST/PC(Standard) or can be configured for SC/PC, SC(APC), or FC connectors. The F-4ASI features easy to read diagnostic LED's for system and link status.

Question:

I was hoping someone could assist me with finding a Thor solution to my ASI fiber problem.

I have a 6 strand fiber line running from our ASI handoff equipment, out to our microwave room.

We utilize the fiber mainly to send ASI signals and ethernet and are currently using Thor fiber F-M1SDI-T/R pairs for the ASI, and a separate converter box for the ethernet..

Recently we have been required to add more ASI, the problem is, I ran out of fiber.

I am looking for a product that allows us to send multiple ASI over either a single strand or pair of single mode fiber. It would be an added plus if it can do ethernet as well.

So we have units that can handle multiple ASI links over a Single Fiber:

We can also add Ethernet to that box, but it would have to be using our SUPERMUX chassis, which is a custom-made unit based on your specs.

In this case it would be XX number of ASI links

Also An Ethernet link, counts as 2 wavelengths.

This option could be ideal for your application, however the cost is greater because they are made to order for custom specs you provide, we charge per wavelength on those units.
