The right solution would be to use single mode fiber instead of multimode. Then, you will not even need EDFA for 500 meters. Please let me know if this is clear.
Principle: WDM is like sending multiple colored lights through the same fiber optic cable. Each color (wavelength) carries a different signal, so you can send several signals at the same time without them interfering with each other.
Explanation: Imagine you have a flashlight that can shine in different colors—red, green, blue, etc. If you shine all these colors down the same path, they won't mix together; they'll stay separate. In WDM, each color of light represents a different data signal (like video or internet).
Muxing: At the start, a device called a multiplexer (mux) combines the different colors (wavelengths) into one single beam of light that travels through the fiber optic cable.
Demuxing: At the other end, a demultiplexer (demux) splits the beam back into its original colors (wavelengths), separating the data signals.
In WDM, the fiber optic cable carries all these different "colored" signals at once, allowing more data to be transmitted efficiently.
Uncompressed 4K HDMI over fiber transmitter and receiver set: It transports uncompressed HDMI video/audio signals up to 10 km over single-mode fiber or up to 3000 feet over multi-mode fiber. The units can transmit IR from the receiver to the transmitter, allowing control of video sources located on the transmitting side, such as a DVD player or Cable STB, from the receiver's location, be it a monitor or TV. Bi-directional RS232 data or RS485 data is also available for this unit.
