1310nm CATV RF optical transmitter for transporting analog and digital television RF signals over single-mode fiber.
The F-RF-1310-TX-8mW is a professional RF over Fiber optical transmitter designed to carry the full 45-870 MHz RF spectrum over a single fiber. It directly converts incoming coaxial RF into optical RF, allowing all channels and services within the band to be transported together with excellent stability and low distortion.
This unit is ideal for systems distributing Analog RF NTSC or PAL, Digital QAM / QAM J.83B, ATSC antenna feeds, ATSC 8VSB, ATSC 3.0, and other RF services operating within the supported range. It provides a simple way to move CATV, off-air antenna, and headend-generated RF signals across long distances where coax alone would introduce excessive loss.
Built around a highly linear 1310nm DFB laser with Automatic Gain Control (AGC), the transmitter is optimized for stable multi-channel transport in both point-to-point and passive optical split networks. For expanded deployments, it can be paired with PLC optical splitters and compatible Thor Fiber RF receivers to serve multiple remote locations from one headend source.
This 8mW RF transmitter is well suited for hotel TV systems, apartment and MDU CATV distribution, campus antenna feed transport, headend-to-building fiber backbones, sports bars, hospitals, stadiums, and enterprise coax TV upgrades.
It is especially useful when a system needs to deliver RF from a central location to remote buildings while preserving signal quality for existing coax-based televisions, set-top boxes, modulators, or RF amplifiers.
For a complete solution, pair this transmitter with Thor Fiber receivers, passive optical splitters, and RF modulators:
| Model | F-RF-1310-TX-8mW |

Fiber allows long-distance RF transport with much lower loss than coax, while keeping legacy CATV and antenna systems active at the remote end.
Example signal flow: HDMI sources enter a Thor modulator, the RF output feeds an RF optical transmitter, the fiber is split using PLC splitters, and multiple optical RF receivers convert the signal back to coax for TVs or local RF amplifiers.
The transmitter can be used with Thor Fiber optical RF receivers.
- 8 mW Optical Power Output from sensor feedback controlled laser system
- Transports entire 45-1000 MHz band even with full channel lineups
- Creates high-security "Fiber Breaks" to eliminate the coax signal return path
- Automatic Gain Control (AGC) manages RF level with no adjustment needed
- Compatible with all Thor RFoG CATV series optical receiver systems
IMPORTANT NOTE*** (It is very important to interface our unit with an SC/APC - Angle Polished Connector to avoid any light reflections.)
If your fiber is terminated with an SC, ST, or FC /PC flat connector, you need to use an optical jumper from PC type to SC/APC for proper conversion.
The following CATV RF fiber optic transmitters are available. You can view all models here: CATV RF over Fiber Transmitters
Other available models: 8 mW, 16 mW, and 32 mW versions in both 1310 nm and 1550 nm wavelengths.
The Thor F-PLC passive fiber optic splitter with SC/APC connectors is an ideal accessory for CATV RF optical transmitters, allowing one optical signal to be split and routed to multiple locations over fiber. Available in 1x2 to 1x64 versions, it is perfect for RF over fiber distribution systems in hotels, campuses, apartment buildings, and other multi-location installations.

RF Fiber Break - optical RF COAX isolation solution
Low-cost RF Fiber Break system for high-security RF feeds. For short-distance transport over fiber and for RF security to prevent any RF leaks. Prevents coax from being used to transmit data in the return direction; using a Fiber Break Kit eliminates any possibility of your copper transmission returning on RF. Kit includes transmitter, fiber jumper, and mini-receiver.
