Coax Multiplexer

Coax Multiplexers - choose wisely with Thor Broadcast!

A multiplexer (short: MUX or Mux) is a selection circuit in the analog and digital electronics, with one of a number of input signals selected one and can be switched through to the output. Multiplexers are similar to rotary switches, which are not made by hand, but with electronic signals. Today they are usually hdmi to coax multiplexer. The difference with the relay is that the connections do not come about mechanically, but (nowadays) through integrated semiconductor circuits.

With cyclic run, parallel data streams can be converted to serial with a multiplexer. In addition, a switching function or any possible switching state can be realized with a multiplexer. For optical fiber signal transmission there are optical multiplexers and de-multiplexers operating with optical switches or wavelength division multiplexing with wavelength selective elements. The counterpart to the multiplexer is the de-multiplexer with which the combined data channels are separated again. Analog Multiplexers operate bi-directionally, that is, they can also be used as a de-multiplexer.

In addition to multiple inputs and one output, a multiplexer has one or more control signals that determine which input is selected. It is the one input through to the output, which has the identifier, which is applied in the form of a binary number as a control signal. A parallel controlled multiplexer with the designation key n-MUX has for example n control signals, 2n inputs and one output. The inputs are usually numbered 0 to 2n-1.

In satellite technology, MUX refers to a multiplexer or de-multiplexer. IMUX (input multiplexer) at the input behind a receiving antenna is technically a de-multiplexer, corresponding to an OMUX at the output in front of the transmitting antenna a multiplexer. For video formats, a multiplexer (muxer) is used to merge video tracks, audio tracks, menu structures, and subtitles into one stream. In communications engineering, a multiplexer refers to a device that combines data and / or voice channels and transmits them on a shared line. Since data is both sent and received, a de-multiplexer is usually required (PCM30). The signals to be multiplexed may therefore be analog or digital, but the control is always provided by digital signals acting as further inputs. Connections used in such technology are run from hdmi to coax multiplexer.
