SDI over Fiber

Best SDI over Fiber solutions

Best SDI over Fiber devices:

Our products are a great solution for combining multiple HD–SDI feeds, or optical signals of any wavelength onto one single–mode fiber. Furthermore our single channel throwdown SDI kits have consistently had the best quality and durability of any kit on the market, as well as being one of the most inexpensive.

Mobile trucks, OB vans and facility managers can now offer expanded video and audio capacity when hosting major events without having to deal with additional fiber cabling and the associated costs. Stadiums, schools, concerts, house of worship all tout HD video over fiber for in house distribution of video using SDI over Fiber kits.

Products can transport accepts SDI video signals ranging from 270Mbs up to 3Gbs and convert them into optical signals to accommodate short and long haul distances for easy signal transport over fiber.

CASE STUDY

Here’s a case study of just one of the many applications: a sports event with a field camera sending live content to a transmission truck over a single fiber via Thor ViperConnect
The camera is connected to the SDI input on the Thor transmitter F-M1SDI-3G-ET-TX, and the receiver instantly delivers the content to the transmission truck. The F-M1SDI-3G-ET-RX receiver is also connected to an Ethernet switch, while the transmitter by the camera is linked to a small 5-port switch or WiFi extender.
This setup allows the camera operator to perform various tasks via IP—receiving commands through Audio over IP, watching the transmission with IPTV, accessing data, the internet, or local LAN. It can even control any IP-enabled device. The possibilities are endless!

Products have the capacity to handle any combination of up to 8 HD–SDI feeds that are then combined and sent over just one single–mode fiber. Some sets even add in Ethernet and various control options for RS485, RS232, and RS422. Considering the technology that is available to use via multiplexing, creating high density designs over a single fiber has proven to be a massive money saver for organizations that lack strands of fiber, or have limited amounts to help haul Video and Audio signals over long distances.
